The Band Camino Painted Playlist Collection

Welcome to the collection that started it all! I love music in just about every genre. Music can set the scene for a movie, allow you to instantly travel back in time, help you fall asleep, or bring on a whole dance party while sitting in your car.

In January of 2021, I found myself desperately needing a creative outlet. I had loved using watercolors in elementary school, but I wanted something with a bit more texture. I went from mixing watercolor and acrylics to straight acrylics. I love the fact that I can add layer upon layer of paint and create something really quite unique and inspiring.

How did "painting music" happen? As a painting exercise, I wanted to let loose and see what would flow out of my hand through the paintbrush. Abstract painting really isn't all that easy, plus there is color theory and yada yada yada. As an exercise to let loose and not overthink what I was creating, I would listen to music. While doing this, I was able to let the feelings of the music take over and let my paintbrush do its own thing. I was so happy with the results I decided I would create a playlist and paint each of the songs in that playlist.

The first playlist I started began with one of my current favorite bands, The Band Camino. I didn't want to paint every single song they have produced, so I limited myself to just eight pieces. Sometimes I would listen to one song over and over again, like Daphne Blue, until I was finished with that particular painting. Other times I would start with a specific song I wanted to paint, listen to that song, and then let the playlist carry on until I was finished with that piece.
